The new Iomega eGo Portable hard drives has changed the way computer users view design and function in portable hard drives. The elegant plastic-covered aluminum shell with chrome endcaps sets the eGo drive apart from other portable hard drives. The rubberized feet on the bottom prevents it from from sliding around on a desk. All in all a good feel to hold it in your hands.
The wallet-sized drive fits easily into pocket, purse or briefcase and is ready to go wherever you do. The Iomega Drop Guard feature protects the drive when dropped up to 51-Inch so you can be confident your portable hard drive is rugged!
An enhanced version known as Iomega eGo BlackBelt Portable Hard drive features Drop Guard Xtreme, allowing the drive to take a hit to the pavement from as much as 7 feet in the air. This ability to take a long drop is largely due to the black rubber belt that envelopes the drive thus protecting it from all angles of impact.
All Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drives come with a comprehensive collection of valuable software to protect your data and netbook that includes McAfee VirusScan Plus, EMC Retrospect Express Backup software (system backup), Iomega QuikProtect (file-level backup), and MozyHome Online Backup service. This sofware is included free with your Iomega product purchase and available via easy download.
No power supply is required when utilizing the USB port and all eGo hard drives are compatible with Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista and Win 7) and Mac OS X 10.1.5 or above.
Available in several different eye-catching colors (Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, and Silver), it allows users to express their own personal palette, popular today with colored netbooks. With capacities ranging from 250 – 500GB the eGo hard drives are ideal for seamless storage, backup and archive support for your netbook. However some colors are not available for certain capacities and we’re not sure why since they use the same cases.
The Iomega eGo USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive has received media accolades around the world for its style and its substance, including PC Magazine, Money magazine, the CBS Early Show and inclusion in TIME magazine’s once-a-year “Tech Buyer’s Guide (November 12, 2007 issue), as well as a coveted spot in TIME magazine’s “Top 10 Gadgets” of 2007.

General Thoughts
Iomega eGo USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive is good-looking portable hard drive. But looks aren’t everything; performance is important too. Happily, this drive performs as well as it looks. Main quibble: The software suite, while impressive, will tax most users with its convoluted install. If you’re looking for a stylish, flashy drive with fast read/write speeds Iomega eGo is a great choice. With a generous warranty and attractive pricing you can’t go wrong buying it.
