The number one netbook manufacturer, Acer joins the Pine Trail party with the release of its new Acer Aspire One AO532h netbook, which combines an energy-efficient Intel Atom N450 processor for an impressive 10 hours of battery life.
The specs are standard fare to what is available in the market, but what is impressive is the price tag. With prices starting at just $299, it undercuts most of the competition in the new Pine Trail netbook market.
Acer has always launched their Aspire One netbooks in many configurations to suit individual needs. The Acer Aspire One AO532h maintains this trends with the models being classified into three groups.
Models AO532h-2588, AO532h-2223 and AO532h-2730 comes with 160GB hard drive pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter edition. It is fitted with a 4400mAh six-cell battery for up to 8 hours of mobile computing.
The higher end models AO532h-2326, AO532h-2964 and AO532h-2406 comes with 250GB hard drive pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter edition and is fitted with a high density 5600mAh six-cell battery for up to 10 hours of mobile computing.
Finally models AO532h-2382, AO532h-2067 and AO532h-2309 comes with 160GB hard drive pre-installed with Windows XP Home editon and it is also fitted with a high density 5600mAh six-cell battery for up to 10 hours of mobile computing.

A reviewer was unhappy with 1GB RAM limitation ” When I upgraded the RAM of my machine to 2GB, I was surprised to find that it would not recognize my 2GB memory module. A support technician from Acer told me that the machine will only support 1GB of RAM.” This is indeed documented on their website and is definitely a step in the back direction as most users would require more RAM sooner or later for performance benefits. With the availability of Win 7 the trend is to support more RAM and not less. Perhaps this might the reason why the Acer Aspire One 532h may be priced so competitively.
The Acer Aspire One is better than most netbooks. It’s fantastic for anyone who wants a small, cheap machine on which to type and surf the Web. Acer has hit a great price point with this netbook and if your budget is tight it’s an interesting machine to opt for.
