The Asus Eee PC 1001P comes in two versions – The Asus Eee PC 1001P-PU17 and the Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17.
The specification of both version are quite similar, with the cheaper Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17 coming without bluetooth. Unlike the PU17 version which comes with a 250GB hard drive, the MU17 version only equiped with a 160GB hard drive.

Upgrading Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17 Memory from 1GB to 2GB
Take note of the following;
- The netbook comes with only 1 slot and it is populated by a 1GB memory module
- That means you have to remove the 1GB RAM module to insert the new 2GB RAM module
- Make sure you purchase the right memory module – a 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM notebook memory module (667MHz or 800MHz)
- Installing the memory is a snap. You just need a tiny Philips screwdriver to remove one screw from back cover. Once unscrewed slide the door towards the screw and lift up gently. Pop out the old, pop in the new, replace the cover and boot it back up (Follow the steps outlined in easily self upgrade RAM)

We found 105 user reviews online for the the Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17 netbook. The average user rating was 4.0 stars. About the only negative comment you will find about this netbook is that it comes preloaded with a lot of bloatware but that is true of just about any computer.
Another complaint reported by some folks is the spongy and cheap feeling of the keyboard. Some have claimed that when they are typing on the keyboard many times a key doesn’t get registered, and they have had to go back and rewrite a word. Hardware failures happen either very early in a computers life or very late. It could have just been bad timing that it happened after the reviewers received the product. They may not know what caused the failure and such defective keyboards should be replaced or repaired.
Beyond that everyone says it is a great little netbook.
The overall performance, build, and quality of this netbook is shared my most reviewers and is being described as the “Great little netbook,” especially by those who travel a lot.
