Upgrading ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-MU27 Memory from 1GB to 2GB
Take note of the following;
- The netbook comes with only 1 slot and it is populated by a 1GB memory module
- That means you have to remove the 1GB RAM module to insert the new 2GB RAM module
- Make sure you purchase the right memory module – a 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM notebook memory module (667MHz or 800MHz)
- Installing the memory is a snap. You just need a tiny Philips screwdriver to remove one screw from back cover. Once unscrewed slide the door towards the screw and lift up gently. Pop out the old, pop in the new, replace the cover and boot it back up (Follow the steps outlined in easily self upgrade RAM)

The ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-MU27-BU 10.1-Inch Netbook with Kindle has received good reviews from its customers via online sources like Amazon. With an average customer rating of 3.9 out of 5 overall.
For the most part, reviewers found that overall the Asus Eee performed very well. Even under the relative strain of multitasking (watching videos while web surfing for example) as long as you keep in mind that this is a netbook and not a desktop the performance level is great. And the battery life is great, lasting about 7-8 hours on high performance mode and more on the power saver mode. And the built in webcam and mic work excellent for doing communication via VOIP programs like Skype. Without needing to cart around extra accessories.
One real consistent sticking point however, is common across the board with netbooks. And that is Windows 7 starter and all of it limitations., which is a solvable issue since you can just upgrade to a more suitable Windows 7 version or another OS altogether. But, the fact that you have to at all is an issue. The system will perform just fine with starter, but you may find the lack of customization and doing more intensive activities will be difficult as a result of it.
Overall, the ASUS Eee is a decent bargain, provided you only need it for the basics. Or are willing to upgrade as needed.
