ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU27 10.1-Inch Netbook Review

ASUS has just released a special edition of its ASUS Eee PC 1005PE series, called ASUS Eee PC 1005PE-PU27. In terms of specification and features, the Eee PC 1005PE-PU27 is exactly the same as the 1005PE-PU17. The only difference is the lid, which now features a matte Soft-Touch black finish that is soft and smooth to the touch. The new finish is also ultra-durable, made with a specialized manufacturing process that ensures it looks like new day after day. The price of 1005PE-PU27 is almost similar to the 1005PE-PU17 model and it is a great deal as it attracts no finger prints and it is also scratchless.

Upgrading ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU27 Memory from 1GB to 2GB

Take note of the following;

The netbook comes with only 1 slot and it is populated by a 1GB memory module
That means you have to remove the 1GB RAM module to insert the new 2GB RAM module
Make sure you purchase the right memory module – a 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM notebook memory module (667MHz or 800MHz)
Installing the memory is a snap. You just need a tiny Philips screwdriver to remove one screw from back cover. Once unscrewed slide the door towards the screw and lift up gently. Pop out the old, pop in the new, replace the cover and boot it back up (Follow the steps outlined in easily self upgrade RAM)

The Asus 1005PE is a great netbook and it appears that Asus have taken note of users complaining about their all over gloss finished netbooks which act as fingerprint magnets. The new Asus Eee PC 1005PE-PU27-BK features a Soft-Touch finish that resists fingerprints and smudges, keeping your Eee PC looking good. At $375, which is a pretty good bargain if you are considering a decent portable computing device that can handle just about anything you throw at it.
