Asus 1215N Netbook Packs a Dual-Core Processor – Powered by Atom D525

The Asus 1215N netbook will be a good option for users waiting for ‘mainstream’ netbook with relatively good hardware specification and graphics capabilities. The new netbook comes with a 12-inch display panel and a dual core processor and Nvidia ION discrete graphics for extensive graphic capabilities – will run 1080p content easily .

In addition there will be Optimus technology designed by Nvidia to intelligently and seamlessly switch between integrated and discrete graphics. This translates in more efficient battery usage.

Unlike the Acer Aspire One D255 netbook which uses Atom N550 – which is a true dual core Atom netbook CPU, the Asus 1215N is equipped with Atom D525 which is a nettop CPU with two cores that run at 1.8GHz with two threads each.

Initial tests by Laptop Magazine shows the Asus Eee PC 121N performed well in standard benchmark tests against single core atom processors as well as newer AMD NEO CPUs. With a score of 2692 on 3DMark06 it shows the superior graphics capability of the Nvidia ION graphics.

With an impressive 5.5 hours of battery life on a netbook with notebook power is pretty impressive.

It comes pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD, and provides good enough performance for most day to day tasks, Other significant features rare on a netbook include USB 3.0 ports and Bluetooth 3.0.

The ASUS Eee PC 1215N is available in black and silver models at Amazon.com.
