Samsung N510 netbook is now shipping in the United States and details on Samsung US website indicate a price tag of $599.99. It is available in black color only for now. To name just a few features not found on your average netbook, this model comes with Nvidia Ion LE grahics, 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) matte display, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, HDMI-out, 1.66GHz N280 Atom, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1, 1.3MP webcam, 3-in-1 card reader and Windows 7 Home Premium. All in a graceful, nimble, slim-line design weighing just 3.1 pounds that’s easy to take everywhere.
Graphics on an Intel Atom netbook have been held back by Intel’s integrated chipset graphics controllers. Now Samsung N510 with the help of Nvidia Ion LE takes the multimedia experience to a higher level. The presence of a larger, non-glare high-resolution and matt-finish 16:9 LCD display further enhances the experience. You’ll watch HD movies the way they were meant to be seen and see images that are fine-tuned with the sharpest details and boldest colors. Samsung has always made good keyboards for its netbooks, and the Samsung N510′s keeps up the tradition. The full-size keyboard has an ergonomic design that makes typing faster and easier. Optimised key spacing and a larger touchpad means you’ll accomplish more thanks to fewer errors. A convenient gesture user-interface lets you scroll, pinch-zoom in/out, and rotate via touchpad.
Samsung claims a battery life of 7 hours with a standard 6-cell battery. However, one can’t avoid asking the question “Will the Nvidia Ion LE significantly drain battery life compared to existing netbooks”? Stay tuned.
$600 may seem a hefty price for a netbook. However,the Samsung N510 has everything to be truly used as on the go device and it is future proof thanks to the match between Atom N280 and nVidia Ion LE.
